Everyone needs somebody...
We Need Us

You don't have to do this alone.

Join mental health communities where people listen, relate, and care.

Completely free. · Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar, PTSD, and mental health struggles of all kinds.

Two people connecting over video from home

The first place I didn't feel like I had to translate what I was going through.

Real conversations. Real support.

01 · Connect

We match you to people who've been there.

Tell us what you're dealing with. We connect you to communities and individuals with the same struggles and interests — depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD, and more. No searching. No guessing.

02 · Share

Talk one-to-one, or to a whole room.

Write to a single person. Post in a community. Or just read — sometimes being near other people's words is what helps.

03 · Support

Support, whether you're recovering or just holding steady.

Some days you need someone to listen. Some days you're the one listening. Both count. Both help.

The platform

Real connections. Real understanding.

You tell us what you're dealing with and what you care about. We bring the communities and people to you — not the other way around.

Communities

We match you to communities based on your struggles and interests, so you land somewhere that fits on day one. Message boards, resources, and shared experiences, all in one place.

Connections

We match you one-on-one with people who share your specific struggles and interests. Real friendships with people who get it, not strangers you have to find yourself.

Messaging & DMs

Private direct messages with your connections. Group chats inside your communities. Conversations that pick up where they left off.

Video sessions

Group video sessions hosted inside your communities. One-on-one video calls with your connections. For when text isn't enough.

Journaling

Guided prompts to help you process what you're feeling. Private by default, with the option to share reflections with a connection.

Rae

For 3 AM, for when your people are away, for when you just need to say something out loud. Rae is an AI companion who's always there — to listen, reflect, and point you back to a real person when you're ready.

What this is (and isn't)

We Need Us isn't therapy, and it's not social media. It's a place to connect with people who understand, reflect privately, and find support when you need it.

How it works

Three small steps. No pressure.

Step 01

Sign up and share what you're comfortable with — your struggles, interests, and an optional short profile.

Step 02

Get matched

Based on what you share, we help you discover communities and people with similar experiences.

Step 03

Explore and engage

Discover other people's experiences, share your own when you're ready, and connect for real support.

Questions & care

The stuff people usually want to know first.

Privacy, cost, what this actually is, and what happens if you're having a hard time.

Who is this for?
Anyone navigating their mental health — depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD, grief, recovery, or something you don't have a name for yet. Whether you're in the thick of it, finding your footing, or simply staying steady, you belong here.
Is this a replacement for therapy?
No. We Need Us is a peer-support platform and self-reflection space. It's not a substitute for professional mental health care — but it can be a meaningful complement. If you're working with a clinician, this is the thing that can live alongside that. If you're not, we can help you find resources when you're ready.
Is everything really free?
Yes. All features — communities, private messages, journaling, Rae, all of it — are free to use. No paywall for peer support.
Can my data be seen by others?
Only content you actively post can be seen by others. Your journal is private. Your direct messages are private. Your data is stored securely, is not analyzed to profile you, and is never sold. Your anonymity is important to us.
What if I want to talk privately?
You can reach out one-on-one through direct messages, or chat with Rae — your always-available, judgment-free AI companion — whenever you want a confidential space to think out loud.
How is this different from social media?
No feed optimized to keep you scrolling. No metrics that reward performance over honesty. No strangers dunking on you. Small, moderated communities organized around what you're actually navigating — not what an algorithm guesses you'll click.
Can I support others here?
Absolutely. You can offer encouragement, listen, or help build communities. Being on the giving end of peer support is one of the most healing things a person can do — and it's a core part of how this place works.
What if I'm in crisis?
If you're in immediate danger, please call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) in the US, or your local emergency number. We Need Us is peer support, not crisis response — but we'll always point you toward real help when it matters.
